but we could not take him on his word

and so he drove us to see

the burlesque princess dance

 

in all lewd majesty, her

name was Dakota,

holding court before her subjects

who paid obeisance by the dollar,

 

black, sequined gloves,

an heirloom spun

in provocative

royal ceremony

 

demonstrating her

claim to lineage,

crowned queen

of the Palace of Passaic.
